Extra Lesson Work
Our remedial teacher, Brigitta Witteveen, recently worked with some of the Extra Lesson exercises in the Seventh Grade.
Extra Lesson exercises were created by Audrey McAllen as a way to complement the work done with the students in the Main Lesson and subject curriculums.  The exercises help students with their spacial orientation, crossing the midline, and with their motor skills, among other things.  There are many aspects to the excercises, some of which are movement, form drawing, or working with bean bags.

One of the form drawing exercises is a "counting star," which the seventh graders practiced on the blackboard for two weeks.  After working together in the classroom, they were given a homework assignment to create a star with anywhere from five to twenty points.  Please click "read more" above to see some of the beautiful results of this work.
New School Director Visit
Robert Schiappacasse
, our incoming School Director as of May 3, visited the school in early March to begin the process of listening, learning, and coming to know the workings of the school. He was welcomed by Interim School Director, Joe O’Regan, President of the Board of Trustees Mooly Dinnar, and Jan Connery, member of the School Director Search Committee. Among the highlights of Robert’s March visit was a well-attended Café Chat hosted by the PCA, in which he fielded a range of parent questions. Robert will visit the school again the week of April 4 for internal meetings as he and the school continue to prepare for his May 3 start date. He will attend the PCA meeting on Monday, April 4.
Board of Trustees Seeks Nominations for New Members to the Board and Board Committees
The Board of Trustees’ Nominating Committee is recruiting new board members, and would like your nominations. Click "read more" above for a detailed description of Board duties. We ask that any people you nominate are known to you to be willing and available to serve, as described in the attached description. No self-nominations, please. We seek full representation of our community, so alumni, alumni parents, and friends of the school make excellent candidates, as well as current parents, faculty and staff. In addition, the nominating committee is looking for volunteers to serve on various Board committees. Serving on one of the school’s committees is a great way to give to the school and learn more about our governance. It also requires less of a time commitment and is the natural path to potentially becoming a board nominee. Please send your questions or nominations to a member of the nominating committee: Helene Svahnqvist, Keith Hartt, Shannon Ames, Wendy Margo.
Come Help With Spring Garden Cleaning!
All around our school the snow is receding and bulbs are pushing up shoots! But in between, leaves and weeds remain from last season. Every Tuesday morning from 8:15-9:15 a.m., a member of the PCA will be busy cleaning up outside--and will have extra gloves, clippers, and rakes. If you have some time to spare after drop-off, come and enjoy the fresh air and good company. Many hands make light work! Please email the PCA with any questions or comments.
Book Your Mendenhall Ticket!
Don't forget to book your ticket for this year's Robert Mendenhall Memorial Concert on Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Follen Church.  This year, you may purchase your tickets ahead of time online, as well as by sending in a check. Tickets are $35 each and are only available at the door on a space-available basis, so we recommend purchasing yours ahead of time.
The beautiful evening features performances by our professional faculty and parent musicians, and selected student musicians as well. A reception in the Follen Church parish hall follows the concert. Concert proceeds benefit the Mendenhall Memorial Music Scholarship fund, which has helped provide private music instruction for scores of our students.
Sign Up Early for the Summer Program
Our enchanting Great Meadows Summer Program is busy enrolling! We are offering a special 5% early-bird discount if you register before Friday, April 1. Application forms are available in the Main Office or you can sign up on the Great Meadows page on the school's website.

Our program runs from June 20 through August 12, eight weeks full of summer fun! Sign-up is flexible and here to serve your summer needs: enroll for just one week or for all eight! Word of mouth is our best form of advertising, so please pass this offer along to your friends.  If you have any questions, please call Julia directly at (781)254-6892.
