Come to the Holiday Fair Next Saturday!
Our 41st annual Holiday Fair is this coming Saturday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come join the community to enjoy the work of dozens of area artisans both new and familiar. Sample the tasty desserts and the delicious luncheon, and feast on live music in the Dessert Café all day long. You can watch the marionette show performed by the Early Childhood faculty.  Come get a treasure from the Pocket Peddler or the Angel Room, or buy a raffle ticket for your chance to win one of the many exciting raffle prizes. The Waldorf Boutique will be selling a wide assortment of Waldorf toys and other items donated by our community.  Alumni will have a chance to catch up with old friends at the Alumni Social. There will be plenty to experience and we look forward to seeing everyone there!
Holiday Fair Preparations and Reminders
There are still plenty of things to do before the Holiday Fair this Saturday. There are several things you can do to help, and a few things we would like to remind you about as the day approaches:

Fair Shifts
Each family is asked to work one two-hour shift per parent at the Holiday Fair. Sign up through your class parent or holiday fair representative. We can also use help with directing traffic for guest parking between 9 and 11 a.m.

PCA Waldorf Boutique Volunteering Shifts Available
There are still shifts available for the Waldorf Boutique at the Holiday Fair, and this year, we are offering a couple of great incentives to those of you who volunteer. If you sign up in advance for a Boutique shift, you can be the first to shop at a private pre-sale on Friday, December 2, from 5-7 p.m.  In addition to this perk, if you sign up to help break down the boutique on Saturday, you can take any unsold items for free.  The shifts that are most needed at this time are for set-up on Friday from 2-3:30 p.m. and breakdown on Saturday from 4-5:30 p.m. Please contact Taryn Pinstein to sign up.

Holiday Fair Bake Table and Café
Please share your baking talents with the community and consider preparing a contribution for the Bake Table and Dessert Café at the Holiday Fair. Always in demand for the bake table are cookies, muffins, quick breads, scones, squares, and biscuits. Fancier fare (pies, tarts, cakes) will be displayed at the Dessert Café. Gluten-free offerings are welcome and encouraged.

Please provide a comprehensive ingredient list, pre-slice your contribution for generous single servings, and plan to drop off your treats at school this Friday, December 2. If you have questions, please contact Caitlin or Michelle. Thank you for all your efforts in helping to support this delicious fundraiser!

Dessert Café Music
There's still a space left for anyone interested in playing music for the Dessert Café.  Would you like to add to the festive ambiance of the space?  Sign up by clicking here.

Kiddy Backpack Loans
Do you have a child-carrier backpack or sling you can lend to the school for the day of the Holiday Fair? Because of space issues, strollers are not allowed at the Fair, and parents will need to carry their small children. If you have one you are able to lend us, please leave it in the Main Office on
Friday, December 2. You will be able to pick it up the following Monday. Thank you!

Holiday Fair Parking Reminder
On the day of the Holiday Fair, school families are requested to refrain from parking on school grounds and to park instead on one of the surrounding streets.

Spread the Word
This beloved community event is how many families found their way to our school, and we hope you can help promote the fair by posting a few flyers at your local library or other high-traffic venues. Please stop by the communications office in 703 Mass Ave to pick up a couple of flyers, or click "read more" above for links to a PDF and JPG of the flyer to email or post to a social network or listserv. Please email Holly Kania if you have passed the flyer along to your listserv.
Community Shopping Evening for Adults
Come shop and enjoy the beauty of the Fair in the tranquil atmosphere of our Friday evening shopping opportunity for adults only, the night before the Fair on December 2, 7-9 p.m. Invite a friend to join you! Bask in the warm glow of our beautiful rooms, and view the wares of over 30 area artisans without the crowds and bustle of the Saturday traffic at the Fair.  The Waldorf Boutique will be open as well, so make sure to come get first pick!

Annual Giving 2011-2012
Thank you to all who have thoughtfully and freely given to the Waldorf School of Lexington’s Annual Giving Campaign. Your generosity is making a difference in so many ways.  The uplifting and enlivening quality of a gift given freely is different from other financial transactions.  Collectively, it generates a powerful beneficial effect. It creates the foundation for a compassionate, affectionate, and resilient community.

“Michael and I have taken the parenting readings that are sent home each week to heart. We have incorporated many Waldorf principles and practices into our home life. In only two short months, we have seen the positive impact the changes have had on both our daughter and our family as a whole. Our donation reflects our appreciation of the school and in particular the efforts of the hardworking, thoughtful early education teachers, Marilyn and Ellen.”
-Meghan and Michael Lytton

“It is my great joy to donate to the school because it is helping to create meaning in the lives of each student fortunate enough to attend the Waldorf School. This world desperately needs such students who become loving, considerate, competent, and informed adults. Best wishes on your Annual Giving Campaign. “
–Joyce A. Greif
Party Planning
Last year's Gala benefit was such a fantastic time and provided such important financial support for the school that we have decided to host another one. (Besides, who could deny Mr. Menz another present like the new roof?) This year's bash will be held on March 31, 2012, at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge. It will be a perfect chance to party, just when the winter doldrums have gotten us down--and we hope you will join us for this festive spring fling!

The class gifts were among the most cherished items in last year's live auction. Please get together with friends in your class and begin to plan your class donation. Submission forms will be on the bulletin board outside Homespun and are dueThursday, December 15. Feel free to contact Mia Moran or Laurel Kayne if you have any questions or need ideas.

Thank you so much for your support! Your participation is what will make this event a success.
