Each year at this time, we look forward to receiving nominations, from our community, of people you think would make great members of our Board of Trustees. Nominations are one of the most important ways for us to find new board members. As you consider whom you might want to nominate, here are some things to keep in mind:
- The Board of Trustees fills primarily a fiduciary and legal role in the life of our school. This includes a wide range of responsibilities in partnership with the faculty and parents.
- Service on the Board involves monthly board meetings, serving on two board committees, and providing committee and community leadership. (See the Handbook for a list of Board committees.)
- Nominees should be willing to commit to a three-year term of service (from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015)
- Nominees are considered for their ability to represent the school as trustees (that is, to work for the good of the school as a whole rather than a particular constituency)
- Nominees can be part of our immediate school community or members of the larger Waldorf community. They may include current or alumni parents, current or former faculty, and alumni.
Please send your nominations (or any questions you may have about this
process) by next Wednesday, April 4, to Shannon Ames. (co-chair of the Board¹s Nominating Committee).
The nominating committee will review all of the nominations received and recommend a slate of candidates to the Board in at its May meeting.
Many thanks for your consideration,
Shannon Ames
