First Grade Assistant Teacher |

Waldorf School of Lexington is seeking a First Grade Assistant Teacher to commence September 2012. The ideal candidate will have a BA Degree, demonstrated interest in the philosophy and methods of Waldorf Education, elementary teaching experience; energy, commitment, and vitality for Waldorf teaching, and the ability to take direction from, and work closely with the First Grade Teacher. Waldorf training and teaching experience is a plus. Founded in 1971, the Waldorf School of Lexington is an established, faculty-led Waldorf School. Our historic buildings feature sturdy brick exteriors, glowing wood floors, and over-sized windows that saturate high-ceilinged classrooms with light. Abutting our campus is a 185 acre nature preserve, and our site features a sports field, several play gardens, a biodynamic herb-vegetable-flower garden, and community-tended beehives.
Our pedagogy is based on Rudolf Steiner’s understanding of human development, and our curriculum includes a full complement of offerings: parent-infant classes; an early childhood program including afternoon care; eurythmy, gardening, handwork, woodwork, physical education, chorus, full orchestra, two languages, and additional middle school classes in English and mathematics skills. Our current enrollment is 270 students, with a faculty and staff of 54. First graders come primarily from within our Kindergarten program. Assistant Kindergarten Teacher |

We are seeking an Assistant Kindergarten Teacher to join our program commencing September 2012. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children in a school setting; demonstrated interest in Waldorf Early Childhood Education, energy, commitment and vitality for the philosophy and methods of Waldorf Education, and the ability work closely under the direction of the lead kindergarten teacher. This is an hourly, part-time, non-benefited position. The Assistant Kindergarten Teacher works from 7:50 am until 1:45 pm daily, 29 hours per week, throughout the school year. Director of Summer Program  |

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Summer Program Director for the Waldorf School of Lexington, for the summer of 2013. This is a part-time position working on-site, on a full-time basis, for the duration of the Summer Program; for 6-8 weeks, June - August. It also involves program preparation, promotion, and staffing in the months preceding the summer program. A job description is available, by request. Math Resource Teacher  |

We are seeking a Math Resource Teacher, with strong math remediation skills to work with students in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5. This is an hourly, part-time position that will grow to include 10 periods per week.

The Waldorf School of Lexington will consider candidates with a variety of qualifications, depending upon the position. They are listed below in order of preference.
1. Waldorf teacher certification, college degree, working with anthroposophy.
2. Teaching/professional experience with Waldorf education, college degree.
3. Teaching experience, no previous connection with Waldorf education.
