The Waldorf school curriculum grows out of the work of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925), an Austrian scientist, philosopher, architect, and educator who founded the first Waldorf School in Stuttgart, Germany in 1919. Through Waldorf education, Steiner hoped to cultivate young peoples' minds and imaginations, and to develop their strength strength of will, fortifying them to meet the challenges of their own time and of the future.
The Waldorf School provides a comprehensive, cultural education that encourages students to develop into creative, balanced, responsible, and clear-thinking individuals.
Waldorf education is now the fastest-growing independent school movement in the world. Waldorf schools are autonomous and independently run, yet linked by Steiner's educational philosophy and curriculum.
